Replacing Propane Regulator Pigtails

When replacing pigtails, is it advisable to use teflon tape or thread sealant on the fitting the between pigtail / regulator?

    x2. Works fine.
  • As an ex-instrument fitter (decades ago), if you are not VERY familiar with using teflon tape, stay away from it. If mis-applied, it can shed shards into the flow stream and these can be a disaster for regulators and valves.

Find the smallest container (tube or other) of a teflon loaded pipe joint sealer (compound) and coat the male threads carefully.

  • Assuming it is the flair fitting... no teflon should be used. Pipe threads only.
