report on trik-l-start

Hi,

I thought I'd let everyone know that the trik-l-start is doing a marvelous job for me.

I'm now semi-full timing, and the only source of recharging for the last 48 hours has been my solar system.

This morning house batteries were at 12.55 and chassis battery was 12.8, so clearly the trik-l-start does isolate and charge the chassis battery.
  • TLS is just a switch. If your converter goes through miltistep charging TLS will just pass that along. It does cut voltage by about .2 and limits amps to about 5. Big brother Amp-L-Start does same but passes 15 or 20a IIRC.

My TLS is also working beautifully BTW.
  • Does the Trik-L-Start offer multistage charging?

I've heard some downsides about it, but not from anyone directly using it, so it definitely would be something to consider having on a boondocking rig. House batteries dead means I just head for hookups. Chassis battery dead means that either I have a switch which allows starting from the house batteries, or I'm in a nasty bind.
  • Thanks for the report. I didn't get one yet, it's still on the list.
I've never heard anything bad about the Trik-L-Start.
