Hi,A 270 watt panel will be massive. Where do you plan on putting it? Most rv's have a bunch of roof vents and A/C going down the center of it. Along with a assortment of antenna and shower skylight, I had great difficulty planning for my pair of 120 watt solar panels, ended up mounted above the driver's and passenger seats in my motorhome, where you can now hear the wistle from the wind while driving. If you have a trailer, then no problem, but still go up there with cardboard 48" X 88" and see where that panel can fit without the A/C or antenna or something shading it. My recommendation is to stay below 150 watts per panel. SunElec.com also has great prices.Ibought a simple PWM solar controller for $13 to control a pair of older 45 watt panels that I gave to a friend. Then installed about 10 each 24 LED Panels, with 5050 emmitters, it lights up his house very well at night. It only has a simple 26 amp hour battery (I had one good one from a electric wheelchair) but it does the job in the longer hours of summer. I don't know how well it will work next month though, might have to change the timer to run the lights only 6 hours past sunset.Fred.

You pick the voltage set point and the time.

I think mine is at 15 minutes if voltage is above 12.4 and 120 minutes if under 12.4 volts at the morning start. If voltage is 11.9 or less there is no float... absorption all day. All adjustable.

Hi Salvo,

I have no choice but to have two banks--they are in different compartments.

The logical choice for the 24 volt would be the bank of four. But that bank uses copper pipe buss bars so it would require a rewire.

I'm a huge user of amp-hours and when I was part time I would rely on the bank to "get me through". Between trips the solar would return the banks to fully charged.

Now that I'm full time and it is winter, the solar is doing very little for me. So far I've not had to use the generator and I can heat down to -10 C on 3000 watts (two 15 amp shore power cords). But tomorrow night it is to go to -18c.

Don, since you like switches and want to keep 2 banks, you can convert the 24V day-time-bank into a 12V night-time-bank. At the same time convert the previous 12V to a 24V bank. All it takes is 3 switches for each battery bank conversion and one switch to move charge controller to the other bank.

The Eco W has no timer for that, just for load management when using the load terminals.

You can set the Vabs and F up and down by 0.1v within a good range of V.

Time in Vabs when camping on solar depends on when you get to Vabs during the day, then until dark. If you are using the Eco for a float charger, you can set Vabs at the chosen Float voltage. I ASSume that would have it stay there same voltage all day until dark , then start over next day.

Those for $15 - not sure. Will be safe to say that some of them won't have any adjustable settings, and none or very few will have all that you mentioned.

On Rogue 30 you can adjust anything that you will ever need, and even things that you won't. See the manual Page 24.
Rogue 20 - don't know, too small for me, something is adjustable, I am sure that V ABS is. See the manual.

V ABS, V FLT - I think Eco is adjustable for at least these settings.

T ABS - not sure about Eco.

I know about using two controllers, and that is in the plans. But even doing that I'll wish exceed the 500 watts the Rogue could handle.

Salvo makes a good point. I could convert one bank to 24 volt and use a dc to dc converter. Or a 24 volt inverter. It would take quite a bit of rewiring of my switches to do this, and I'd loose much of the flexibility that is in the design. If I did go 24 volts, however, I could use the Rogue after all.

My inclination is to stay all 12 volt and use a 60 amp controller in addition to the Blue Sky unit.

On ANY of those MPPT controllers, can a user have linear settings control of the voltage limit and time spent at limit of absorption? What if I don't LIKE 14.4 absorption? Can I step up or down incrementally in tenths of a volt? Control over time spent at absorption limit before going to float. Adjustment of float voltage?

You already have 2 battery banks. Convert one into a 24V bank. Get a 24V to 12V converter to supply the 12V battery. You can keep your 12V system and eat your cake too. ;-)
