The Coleman covers are not very durable. This one from MaxxAir is a good deal better, lifetime warranted, and not any more expensive. This pic is from Amazon and price $122 and $10 shipping. Prime bumps it to just under $150 on Prime with two-day delivery. Check with MakariosRV, shipping may be free, and price showed $125.

Before I replaced one of our Coleman cover with the MaxxAir, I cut reinforcing plates out of an expired license tag to hold it down where cracked. When I finally threw it out, the trash man grabbed it and it fell apart in the street. I think I swept up about as much in small pieces as what he threw in the truck.

Get in there and clean it when you can. Speaking of license tag, I was able to use one as a water deflector and rinse the evaporator fins with a garden hose nozzle. I think it was a little better and a lot faster than what's in the procedure. Another good trick is to fill a pressurized garden sprayer with clear water and rinse with it. Easily aimed and not so much water as a hose, but still pressure.

Hello again, I have good news! ac ran allday yesterday along with the fridge and my wife doin laundry in garage.:S(where I am plugged in). I decided to do a thorough cleaning using that method...when I got up there and took first 3 screws out of shroud I heard a slight crack..went to take 4th out i stripped it horribly half way out, while leaning on shroud I heard the cracking sound again..to Make a short story shorter..i abandoned the shroud idea being short of money right now and thought of buying new one a day before the trip. So I just unplugged and disconnected everything and sprayed it out from outside the shroud, replaced fuses in converter, let it dry all that day and fired it up yesterday morn. So far so good! I appreciate the help gents!!:B

Cleaning will help. Here is Chris Bryant's Procedure

On 20A you can't run anything but that 13500 A/C, your fridge and maybe your converter. Absolutely NOT your water heater, microwave etc. along with it.

Using an extension cord? What kind? Even an RV extension is a loss. What kind of adapter to the 20A outlet? The "dogbone" type is far better than the "puck" type.

Ours always tripped when the hot water heater kicked on. We turned off the electric power to it and the problems stopped.

It is possible that the high temps is increasing the electrical system demand in your area and the electrical companies voltage is going down as the demand increases. If your voltage is low your amperage will be higher. Could cause the breaker to open.

If you RV hasn't been plugged in for awhile it may be the On-Board Converter/Charger unit is re-charging the battery at a "BOOST" rate adding more load to the 120VAC system...

Additionally it could be the Battery is starting to go bad on you and has boiled out its fluids making the On-Board Converter/Charger really have to work hard trying to get the battery to work. Check battery fluid levels....

just a couple of observations

Keep in mind that the voltage at that breaker you've always plugged in to can significantly change for a number of reasons, most of them due to variables in your residential distribution system. Also breakers have a service life. They tend to trip easier at the end of their useful lifespan.

Just throwing some possible factors out there.

The 120V AC voltage going low due to all the demand cause it's hot.
Lower voltage=higher amp draw

Your A/C Unit circuit breaker getting weak

Your A/C Unit circuit breaker wiring is not tight.....higher resistance---heat builds up---breaker trips

Your A/C Unit fan and coils (evap & condenser) are dirty...maybe even air return filter.....dirty unit higher amp draw

Ac takes 12.5 amps. Convertor take 3/6 amps refer 3 amps 20 amp breaker good for 16 amps continuous per National electrical code. Then heat also helps trip it. I guess thats why they put in a 30 amp service. Don't feel bad, I tried the same thing, ac, water heater and convertor. TRIP. Back to gas waterheater.and refer.

The breaker in the camper or the house? I would say that your AC may need cleaned that will make a big difference. If that doesnt work check the breaker.
