Roof vent to far away to reach.

At 5'8" tall my wife can't reach the roof vent crank handle on the vent in the bathroom of our toy hauler. If I'm not around she ends up using the handle of the broom to turn the crank. Wondering if anyone has a nifty idea for some kind of handle she could use to turn the crank that would be easier then using the broom? Don't really want to have to deal with storing a step stool just for this.
  • A good woman would know not to mess with one of our settings. JK JK please don't beat me.

    Take the crank handle off
Go to osh and buy a knob with the same size shaft hole
Get a knobby one that is easy to grip
Then get a piece of PVC pipe cut notches to fit the knob
    Easy peasy

Even easier, see my post above. KISS :B

  • If you have time, make something like this. If you don't have enough time see link below. Order the knobs when you order if you need more than one knob. If you have manual awning, just buy knobs and use the awning puller thing. Other end of handle the come with this is OK for switching bathroom fan switch. We're happy with product other than price and only bought because got tired of messing around. Lots of work arounds if you want to make something or just buy to get project out of the way.

  • You could also install a Fantastic Fan with a remote control like we did in the living area of our fifth wheel. It's very convenient, multi-speed, and can move a lot of air.

  • My wife uses a short length of 3/4" PVC pipe. It fits neatly over the crank handle knob and stores under the couch.
  • There are different types of handles, but I would make a fitting for the handle and put it on a short length of an old broom stick.
