Rotopax opinions?
Just wondering what people think of Rotopax containers. Their main downside is price (a lot more than just a plastic gas can from Wally World), but the advantage is easy placement, the fact that they can be mounted horizontally or vertically, and the ability to have different containers with different fuels, water, or even storage/first aid kids. With a locking handle, they can also be resistant to two-legged scavengers as well.
Even though I've seen a few people with four-wheelers use them (or the Kolpin knock-offs), I haven't seen many real opinions, good or bad, and I'm wondering if they should be something worth considering (or mounting on a motorhome) for extended boondocking runs.
I do know that fuel containers and Rotopax mounts would be more secure on a cargo rack or the side of a small cargo trailer than normal gas cans and their holders. This would allow me to carry a good amount of additional fuel, either as an emergency, or for longer boondocking outings.
Of course, the best of all worlds is a trip to Canada and buying metal Jerry cans with mounting brackets and bringing those back home, but one has to make do with one can buy here in the US.
