NO, It is not like a Phone cord. Phone cords are NOT communication cords. What you have is a communication cord. The modular ends are wired in reverse of a PHONE Cord. IF it is a MORE than 4 wire(probably 8 wire RJ45 connector, then you can make an extension. Your remote cord may be a Network cord instead of a communication cord. You can cut the existing cable in the middle and get your own same type cable and colors extension and just splice each colored wired to is respective color. Or get a Network extension block and another extension cable wired the same. Doug
