Schwintek gear rack lubrication

I've used the factory recommended CRC Powerlube with PTFE in accordance with the Schwintek video to lubricate the gear rack: Schwintek video

Now, after two years, the gear rack has an accumulation of black burnish marks on the gear teeth and a gummy residue at the bottom of each rack tooth channel.

I can clean the rack but not the gears which are hidden within the slide out frame.

Has anyone else done he recommended lubrication and noticed a residue remaining on the gear rack?
Is the CRC product not a true "dry" lubricant?
Would a dry graphite lube be better?
  • I cleaned the black marks off the gear rack using carburetor cleaner and scrub brush. Some black marks still remain on the gear rack but not much. And the sticky residue is gone.
I recommend taping off painted areas if using carb cleaner because the spatter will mark the paint.

The recommended CRC definitely makes the slide run smoother.
  • When aluminum rubs against itself, it produces the black you see. So far I have not lubricated mine (but I will) and the track has the same black marks.
