Screws packing out on roof deck, under the rubber roof

I have a recurring problem on my rig (see signature). A few of the screws that attach to the roof deck to the roof structure keep backing out, causing a bump under the rubber roof. In the past I have cut an X over the screw, removed the screw to put Dicor on the threads, and reattached it. I then put a patch over the cut.

I have a couple of previous repairs that have backed out again. My plan is to try to remove the patch, remove the exposed screw and reinstall it (or similar) about an inch from the old hole and re-patch.

Any comments, ideas, suggestions, previous experience? Thanks in advance.

    I would NOT cut the EPDM. I would install 2 x2 inch squares of eternabond over the affected screws. That will stop the screws from poking thru the EPDM and you have not affected the integrity of the EPDM. If you check the screws with your previous repair, I would verify they are WOOD screws and NOT self tapping screws. Wood screws rarely back up unless they have been stripped when installed. Doug

    If it's a Phillips (or Robertson) head screw, cut or file a groove across the head. After driving the screw in fully, put a staple across the groove to lock it in position. If for some odd reason you have flathead screws, you already have the groove.

    Disclaimer: I haven't actually tried this myself, but have read about it. It and a few very close variations are very old tricks.

    I purchased a 1" diameter neodymium magnet N52 strength 1/4" thick on eBay. Stuck a 1/4" diameter foot long rod to one side then snapped the magnet down on loose chair screws under leather. Twisted the magnet with the rod. Large N52 grade neodymium magnets have insane strength.

    I would purchase a packet of smaller less powerful discs then slap one atop each affected screw. These magnets will not turn against the roof coating and they dang sure will not fall off. Beats wrecking a roof coating.
