- wintersunExplorer IIFor RV use I would go to Delcity.com and buy their large gauge wire and their solder slug compatible connectors and solder slugs. The slugs go inside the terminal which is then heated with a propane torch to melt the solder, then the ends of the cable is pushed into the solder. It makes for as good a connection as you can get and will last 3-4 times as long as a crimped on terminal. Use adhesive lined shrink wrap tubing if you want to be extra sure of maximum life for the cables.
With the Delcity cables you can make them exactly the length that is needed. Buying the ready made ones you get ones that are too long. - mena661ExplorerNice work!

x2. Good company, good service, good products
Auto parts store cables mostly have stamped steel ring terminals.
I had 2 4awg cables between shunt and battery, one store bought stamped steel cable with the original ends, one with the steel terminals cut off and some quality gold plated brass ring terminal crimped on with a hydraulic crimper.
The two wires together were passing 4.2 amps. 3.8 of those amps chose the brass terminal wire. Just 0.4 amps chose the one with the steel terminals, according to my clamp on ammeter.
When I cut off the steel ends and crimped on more gold plated brass
, the load was shared equally between the two wires. Here are the stamped steel ring terminals sticking to a magnet.
I have more stamped steel cables I need to get the steel off of, but they are on the vehicle steel chassis, not on my battery or auxiliary electric systems. - mena661Explorer

A very highly rated company with superb marine grade products.
Got sad news for some folks. 250' rolls of auto parts store battery cable 4-terminal kelvin bridge tests showed 2 gauge measured 3 gauge, 4 gauge measured 5 gauge and so on. The is a world of difference between garbage auto parts store cable and genuine rope stranded AWG wire. Auto parts store cable is OK for cars that are very close to ending up in the scrap yard. Genuinedealz and Marine Chandleries sell good wire and terminals. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIFor 4 Gauge Auto parts stores (Starter cable) is your best option.
For larger cable (Say 0000) welding supply. - John_WayneExplorer IIYou may be able to get it done where they install custom car radios.
