where do we kick it?
seriously what do we do - there is no genny people around here.
thanks all
  • make sure u have at least 1/4 gas tank as it will shut off at 1/4
  • gas engine
"Did it crank at all? Crank and cough? Crank just no fire? A few more details would be helpful. " it seem to try to start but just would not keep going after i released the start button.
    onan KY-FA/26100K
    thanks all
  • First place I would start is the carburetor - if you didn't drain the gas from the carb when you "parked" chances are it's full of varnish. Some people have had success using Seafoam - use the forum search feature as there are lots of threads on that subject.
  • Any engine not run for 3 years is going to have lots of problems, especially if that engine was not carefully prepped for storage.

You specify neither what fuel that Onan generator uses, propane, diesel, or gasoline, and each has different issues with such storage. You also do not say exactly what "tried hard but would not start" means. Did it crank at all? Crank and cough? Crank just no fire? A few more details would be helpful.
  • I run my Onan for an hour under load the first of every month under load. I use non-ethanol gas unless I just can't find it and I always keep stabilizer in the gas even if it is non-ethanol. Never a problem in the past 4 years.
  • IF u get it running run it all day w/ a/c load at least. then u have to run it once a mo with out fail ,under load for abt a hr
  • 1) Check oil, if oil is low Genny will not start

    2) it is an Onan if so which one.

    EDIT
