The question is, how do I remove the TV from the stand? My RV remote batteries leaked and ruined the remote on my Insignia TV. I've been unable to locate a replacement remote and the TV is pretty useless without it. I tried a remote for a different model and it didn't work and I've tried a universal, but can't program it without the TV model number. There's no part number anywhere on the remote. There's a place where one may have been glued on at one point, but it's not there.I have an Everest fifth wheel and the TV seems to be bolted in from the bottom, but there's no screws, bolts, velcro, or fasteners of any kind visible. I need to get to the back of the TV to find a model number to look for a remote or I need to replace the TV.

the TV on my chieftain was mounted in a corner cabinet. there was a wooden cover on the bottom that had to be removed but it was held up/on with some very tiny screws that blended in perfectly with the bottom and it took a lot of time and inspection to find them. once those 3 or 4 screws were out the main mounting bolts were visible.bumpy

Any 3rd party Universal Remote will work with your set. You should be able to find one at Walmart for less than $10.

You might try using your smart phone and take some pictures of the back and other place you suspect the number might be. You can then enlarge the picture to read the numbers better. Since my eyes are not as sharp as they once were, I often photograph the fine print and enlarge is so I can read it. You might also try calling the manufacture with your vin number. They might know what they were installing at that time.

There's less than a half inch clearance between the TV and the cabinet. It's impossible to get anything through the gap. I haven't had any luck with Everest. I've written them e-mails in the past and they've never responded.

$53.00 Universal remotes? Why are you buying the gold plated units? The black plastic one works just fine.

that is how mine was built. 4 or so very tiny screws holding the board up.

Actually BillW, I am seriously considering it. The old one is one of the pre-flat screens and probably weighs well over 100 lbs. It doesn't have 1080p resolution and it's SLOW when you change channels. It takes a half hour or more to program the channels every time I hook up at a campground.

I bought the RV new in 2005 and that's the original TV, so it's at least 10 years old.

I've experienced exactly what you have. It's very frustrating.

If the TV is really 10 years old, I wouldn't be above forcefully removing it, even in pieces. You really want a nice, new one anyway, right? ;)

My TV hooks into notches on the back and you lift it straight up and off the mount. Had to email the mfg to figure out how to get it off.

I tried all the numbers for that Universal Remote and none of them would activate all the features. I just bit the bullet and ordered a different universal remote.

did you try to use all of the numbers listed for that make of TV? some of the numbers might only activate certain features, others may be more complete.

I just don't understand why he TV needs to come out in order to determine if a remote control is compatible??? Universal remotes use multiple programming codes per TV manufacturer. Just try them all until you find the one for your TV. Since you have an Insignia TV (Best Buy house brand) it may have been manufactured by another manufacturer. Google will help with finding out who that was. Then try their remote codes....
