Suburban Furnace Recall

I received an email today from ThorCa, telling me there is a recall notice about my Suburban Furnace (not water heater). They are asking me to verify that there is an exterior furnace vent installed.

I'm looking for help on what to look for, to find the exterior furnace vent. I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack when it comes to mechanical stuff on my TT, so thanks in advance for your help.

Crikeys . . . we all know of the build quality issues . .. this is beyond the pale. Did we contract FEMA to do this? Jiminy Crickets I would think we could sue the pants off for this type of stupidity. I know some FEMA folk are superb hard working types who care, I don't mean to malign. I speak of the crony laden fools initially working Katrina.

How about a link to the PDF. I can't find any of this on their website.

The aforementioned link wouldn't work for me, but this one did : http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/results.cfm. They mention 'park models' . . . .this kinda confuses me.

Here's one that I ran across late last year. It was an almost new, one owner coach. He had purchased new & I was the 1st to service it. So this poor installation had to be the factory or the dealer. He was darn lucky his wall thermostat had failed. After replacing the wall thermostat I only noticed the problem after walking by the exhaust (outside the trailer) and noticed that no hot air was coming out. The last picture shows the black spot on the wall that was left after I corrected the installation. Scary stuff. Tim

I don't see where the vent is missing, just installed incorrectly.
From the link above:

"Thor California is recalling 64,000 MY 1997-2006 Tahoe, Wanderer, Jazz, Vortex and Mirage travel and fifth wheel trailers equipped with Suburban and Atwood furnaces. The furnace exhaust vent was improperly installed. The furnace exhaust vent will allow leakage of fumes which contain combustion products, including a high concentration of potentially lethal carbon monoxide gas. Fumes could enter into the trailer and could result in serious injury or death. Owners will receive instructions on inspecting the furnace vent. If an owner believes the vent is installed incorrectly, is not sure how to inspect the furnace exhaust vent, or needs assistance in getting the furnace exhaust vent installation
inspected and corrected, owners should contact Thor immediately at 1-877-870-2638 or via the internet at http://www.thorca.com. The recall is expected to begin on June 30, 2006. 06V-208"

I can not believe Thor did that! This is a dangerous thing. No vent on the outside for the furnace means it's using inside air for combustion and exhausting into the rig as well. No wonder they're emailing people....VK

Find out where your heater is then go to the same area on the out side of your trailer you should find a vent. Turn the heater on and run your hand across the front of this vent and you should feel the heat from the exhaust also a roar sound if you don't have this you should.
