Yes that's my main concern too... and why I said I'd be the guinea pig. :-) However it is Costco after all. If it doesn't perform properly, I'll return it.
The packaging (and the info plate, as pictured) has French on it and mentions costco.ca, so I presume this production run is specifically for Costco in Canada.
As I said before I haven't really used it other than firing it up and running a couple of power tools. My only "complaint" so far is that the oil check/fill plug is behind the back panel. You need to remove 4 screws to get to it. Somehow I don't think the oil level is going to get checked daily as they suggest.
