Guys, little be it for me to suggest how things work here, but I'd sure like to see this thread get back on the topic of the Champion 2000 inverter. It seems it's drifted off on several tangents (Converters, and competing models, amongst other things) and I keep coming back to read the responses after getting the email alert...only to find out that the content has little to nothing to do with the Champ.

Hope you have better luck with the ix2000 than the folks who posted the reviews over at Amazon....

Professor,
I recall you saying you have a Generac inverter generator? Do you have any links to info about that?
The reason I ask, is that I'm on my 3rd Honeywell HW2000i (first two failed and were replaced under warranty). This unit works fine, but takes a lot of pulls to start it, so the rope is getting worn.
I called to find out about getting a replacement starter rope, and ended up at Generac! It seems that Northshore Power is out of the Honeywell generator business and by some corporate magic, Generac is now on the hook.
Anyway, there are no parts for Honeywell, so Generac is sending me a new ix2000 (5793-2) - with a new 2 year warranty - instead of fixing my Honeywell. They don't want the Honeywell back either.
So I need to read up on the Generac.

I am in contact with an electronics guy in my home town. He is going to take a look at my WFCO converter and then we are going to scope it with AC, Champion 46515 open synchronous gen and then on to the Champion 2000i.
Now, I saw the pics that were posted showing the wave form of a Champion open synch gen powering a 1500 watt heater and the wave form powering the WFCO.
Now, I am looking for pics of the waveform with PDCO converter powered by the Champion 2000i. All this before spending more money.

I know you were asking professor for info on the generac, you can purchase a pull cord rope at most hardware or big box stores. Make sure it's for that purpose. Other types may stretch and or fail early.

Jay,
I got the covers direct from CPE. I called a bunch of times over the winter and was told they are coming. Finally checked their website and under accessories saw they had them.
