I wait 5 minutes myself. Some refrigerators will start with economy mode on other refrigerators will not start. If yours won't start the refrigerator with economy mode on then you'll need to turn the economy mode off so the motor is running faster. Once a refrigerator has been started you can start a second refrigerator and you should be able to turn the economy mode back on so the motor runs slow once everything started.
