Thetford toilet leak

Has anyone had a problem with a fresh water leak coming from the back of a Thetford toilet? Brought it back to the dealer after first trip and they couldn't find anything wrong. Just got back from second trip and it still leaks. Really don't want to bring it back to dealer, would like to attempt the repair myself. The leak appears to be coming from where the water line connects to the inlet valve, high on the back side. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I wouldn't get too pissed, stuff happens. It's curious that a simple O ring on that hose fitting cured the issue. The mfg must have a mismatch between the fitting and whatever they use for supply line.
FWIW, everything on my old Aquamagic is threaded fitting, not hose barb.

I guess I am alone on this one, good to see a friend from the independent province of Ontario can put me in my place.

Anyone else think I shouldn't be a little pissed?

Sorry sound guy, having a hard time posting photo. A good dealer should work with you and try to help a guy with a known problem. I would like to think, at the very least, the dealer would have followed up and asked why I was buying a replacement part for a camper that is 2 months old. Is this my responsibility to contact the toilet manufacturer and try and get warranty coverage? When does the dealer just stop and give up on the customer?

What photo? :h

It was nice of the dealer to SELL me the part, even after I had it in for the leak after our first trip.

Unless this was a warranty claim of course the dealer would SELL you the part. No dealer is a benevolent society that just gives stuff away, especially not when any warranty you have is between you & the manufacturer and has nothing to do with the dealer. :S

I'm thinking it was a Friday for the installation at the factory, it WAS very hard to get the hose over the orange o ring

Thanks CJ, I will be picking up a new " modulal" tomorrow, hoping replacing it will fix the leaking problem. I have 2 elbows leading up to the valve( modulal ). I am impressed with forest river plumbing, up until the toilet. Stay tuned, we are going on trip 3 in a few weeks and I will install the new part before then.

Model of toilet would be beneficial.

I also had a leak on my thetford, I thought it was the water valve, I replace it, and it still leaked.

while flushing the toilet I took the pressure off of the water line and it stopped leaking.

Seems like Winnebago instead of putting in a couple of 90 degree elbows they just bent the tubing around causing too much strain on the water valve.

I bough a couple of 90 degrees to take the strain off the water line.

Very frustrating, I am now an expert on toilette removal

There is a connection for a sprayer on the water valve. It is a short nipple sticking out that comes with a cap on some. It could be missing.

I prefer the current Dometic to the Thetford we had. Tall and foot operated.

It appears to be a " Aqua-Magic V ", and it does only leak when flushed.

A prior trailer had a problem Thetford. You may have a defect. Do a search of your model #. RV stores sell replacement parts.

Pulling the toilet is easy, but I'd have the valve parts w/new gasket included before getting too deep into it.
