TowMax ST tires recalled

NHTSA Campaign ID Number : 14T015

Dynamic Tire Corp. (Dynamic) is recalling certain Towmax STR tires, size ST225/75 R15 manufactured June 15, 2014, to October 14, 2014. The affected tires may have the Incorrect Load Capacity and Inflation Pressure Stampings. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) 119, "New Pneumatic Tires for Vehicles Other Than Passenger Cars." The misinformation on the label could lead a driver to overinflate the tires. Tire overinflation may increase the risk of a tire failure which can increase the risk of a crash. Dynamic will notify owners, and dealers will replace all eligible tires, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin December 10, 2014. Owners may contact Dynamic customer service at 1-905-595-3593.

Good Year Marathons are produced in about 4 different countries. I think it is about QC no matter what company. A friend called me and said he just mounted up a set of BFG's. I was looking for tires and stumbled upon a recall on his tires. Discount sold the tires after the recall. He took it in & they replaced all 5 and apologized. Tires on an RV is always a******shoot. If I could fit them in my wheel house I would spend the bucks for the G614's

From the recall link "potential number of units affected" 17,369

dates involved 6-15-2014 - 10-14-2014 (4 months)

That's over 4,000 tires a month and from just one tire company.

Never thought about it before but it must take a lot of tires for all the vehicles on the road.

Then my mind wonders a different direction; why do we still have tire problems? It's not like they make one every now and then

My 16" Towmax tires only last 1 season before the blowout. Maybe they should recall them as well!

That all depends on how you wanna look at it.
They state that the info on the sidewall is incorrect. That could lead one to believe that the tire is capable of more than it actually is...
I think that makes it structural.

I had G614 do $1200.00 damage to the side of mine. But they were almost 8 yrs old. I have a lighter toy hauler now and put Commedores on it. Almost 6K on them mostly in the heat here in Az with no issues yet. They may blow next trip but who knows. Since putting these on friends have replace at least 2 sets of LT tires on their trailers. Not sure why but just some thoughts.

This should have been posted in the appropriate forum, like TT's or 5th wheels, where it may get noticed by those who are using these tires.

So far, my Towmax STR's have performed as well as the Good-Year, Maxxis, Michelin, Cooper, Firestone, and Toyo tires I have used over the years.

All those junk Chinese tires should be recalled until they can all be made to passenger vehicle specs.
