I’m pretty sure the majority of roofs on RV’s are fully adhered. Which means there is no such thing as saving the substrate. Portions of the luan underneath will separate and be pulled up as you pull up the membrane, rendering the existing substrate unsuitable for new membrane installation.

My RV roof doesn't have luan. It's OSB. The EPDM roof will come off the OSB.
