Update on 50 ft 50 amp extension cord

Well I got the FW setup at the campgrounds and found that the 25 ft. power cable would be long enough to reach the pedestal, but doesn't leave and slack, so I bought a 15 ft. 50 amp extension cord for under $60 with free delivery off Amazon and received it today.

With the extension I can keep the cable off the ground and tucked away so it can't be stepped on.

I want to thank everyone for their help and comments.

Now I have to wait for the Campgrounds to turn the water on.
  • Hi,

Did you check for extra voltage drop with the longer cords and extra connection? (Inquiring minds want to know).

SOmetimes that just 6 more feet really hurts you day haha...

Most places we go to when you back in the pedestal is right next to the trailer connector side...

I did pull into one in VA one time however where they shared a pedestal with two trailers. Can't image running the shore power cable across someone elses camp spot. There was just enough room to drive in instead of backing in so that is what I did but now my awning is on the wrong side. Glad it was just a one night stay...

  • I will checked the voltage with my P.I. EMS. when I add the extension cord tomorrow and post the results.
  • Umm 25'+ 15' = 40', not 50'...

The extra length will probably only be an issue when very heavily loaded.

    :)

I'm assuming he was previously thinking of buying a 2nd 25-foot and instead bought a 15'. Only the thread title says "50ft" to reference a previous thread. The "update" is that he only needs 40ft.
