Water heater problem

You have the valve shut off for winterizing it.

Did you have cold water, but not hot water? Meaning, the cold faucet ran water, and the hot faucet did not run any water at all? If so.... check the water heater winter by-pass valves. If you have more than 1 valve, chances are, you have water turned off going into the tank and water beyond the outlet side. It's entirely possible to kill all hot water flow if you'rs has the 3 valve system.

All the valves are in the proper position, any chance water heater could be clogged?

If your water heater was empty it will take a while to fill it before water starts coming out.

You need to post the Brand and MODEL number to get more help. On the outside of the water heater is a safety Pop Off valve. Open it and see if water flows out. Doug

The check valve in the water heater HOT outlet has failed. It is in the fitting on the tank (top one).
They are junk......cheap plastic plunger/spring/o-ring assembly,


O-ring dislodges, plunger gets cocked, scale/calcium builds up etc.....no HOT water flow out of water heater.

Old Biscuit seems to always have the answer. I had to take my HWH out to replace mine. Not really a difficult task. Turn the propane off of course and drain the tank. It took some heat from a torch and good wrenches to get mine out. Less than 10$ at Home Depot for the part.

I decided LONG ago that if mine ever failed, I would just remove the contents of the check valve, and put a shutoff on that line. That way, I would have nothing to fail.

Mine never failed, and we are taking her to the dealer Thursday. We are trading her in on an Airstream.
