Water pump problem

When I first turn mine on after winterizing, I leave the water heater in bypass. I then turn the pump on. It starts running. I then open a faucet with the pump still running. I can hear the sound of the pump change as it begins to draw water. A few seconds later and water starts spitting out of the faucet. Turn the faucet off, and the lines will pressurize and the pump will shut off. Then finishing bleeding air out of each line and faucet in your camper (including low point drains.). Only after all the lines are flushed of the pink-stuff, then do I flip the water heater off by-pass and fill it, so fresh clean water will fill the tank.

Anything else, and my pump (on 3 different campers now), will just run constantly if it's done any other way.

Thanks for all the help. Last night, after I cleaned filter the pump didn't seem to be really running, just sounded like swishing water around. I do have a hose for winterization, it is closed but I will double check

Does your trailer have a winterizing (bi-pass) valve at the water pump? IE: It switches from sucking water from the fresh tank, to sucking antifreeze from a jug.

If it has one of these, it could be sucking air from the antifreeze inlet, and needs to be switched over to the fresh tank.

also if tou have the option to fill your tank from the city water inlet then if the valve to fill that is open the pump may run continuously

3 valves for water heater....

Cold water inlet (bottom) OPEN
Hot water outlet (top) OPEN
Bypass---connects cold line to hot line CLOSED

Open closest faucet hotside until air is purged and water runs then do cold side.
Then do other faucet/showers/toilet (outside shower too)

Is your hot water tank full? If not the pump will run until it is full, which will take a considerable amount of time.

You may need to open a faucet to help purge air from system. You may have your winterizing hose sucking air, and needs to be turned to tank. Water heater 3 valves, picture would tell, but normally the top and bottom valve need to be open to fill WH. The middle valve is for by pass.

Valve levers in line, OPEN, levers 90 degrees to line CLOSED.

Slight drain valve drip from fresh tank should not be an issue.
