Wave 3 90 Degree Elbow Options

I'm going to permanently mount the Wave 3 Catalytic Heater on one of the cabinet doors built into the fold-down bed that drops down above the Dinette in a Lance 835. it will keep the heater above dog level and when the cabinet door is opened it aims toward the cabover bed which will be nice. The wave 3 just fits inside the door, but upon measuring I think the 90 degree swivel fitting that camco sells and most people use will stick out too far. I really don't want to notch the cabinet. Is anyone aware of a lower profile 90 degree fitting. It doesn't need to swivel which is why some of these fittings are taller. The last one seems like the best bet.

  • might have to scratch this effort, from what i'm reading the wave 3 cannot be mounted horizontally

I am not sure that the last link is what you need. The female thread has to be flare, and on this item this is not clear.

Camco is selling standard 3/8" male flare to 3/8 female swivel flare that you can find elsewhere (likely, for less money):
3/8 swivel flare. I used this source when installing my Wave 6 on the wall, for this and other fittings. Swivel elbow is easier to deal with, it does stick out but not much - don't remember now, away from my trailer.
  • Can you use a torch? or get copper tube I think it is "M". this is the more flexible copper tubing. Same is used in RV/Campers. Then you can use flare compression fitting.
  • Does that get you the 18" of clearance required above the heater? Even if it doesn't start a fire, I would think it could ultimately damage the ceiling in that spot.

For permanent install a quick disconnect is less important (if at all necessary) than shut-off valve on the heater line. An excess flow valve is also nice to have.
  • Just realized that as well that I won't have the ceiling clearance. I can mount it low but have a small dog who is likely to camp in front of it and likely dog hair will get all over it. Back to square one.
