Wedge base LED - electrical contacts too short?

I bought some wedge LEDs that give good light. I'm generally pleased with them.

However, I've found that in some fixtures, if I push the LED all the way in, the bulb goes out. I have to pull it part way out to make it come on.

On close inspection, the wires on the bulbs seem a bit shorter than on the incandescents I replaced.

Other than getting a different wedge base bulb, is there a fix for this problem?
  • I had this trouble as well. You pull the wedge out a tad and it connects. Then you drive to camp and hae to readjust it. A tiny piece of tin foil seemed to help. It was the cheap chinese bulbs I bought on Ebay as I recall.
