Where do you get RV normal service maintenance on the road?

Where/how do you find places to get normal service maintenance ( like oil change) done on your motor home while you're traveling? Thank you for any help.
  • For a gasser like I have I try to find a good commercial truck repair place that deals in straight trucks
  • Than you for the info. We have a gasser - a Forest River FR3 32DS. We're towing a truck.

Many truck stops can do diesel, some Gas.. Camping World can screw up an oil change on either (They did mine I specified one type of oil, they used something different).

You can also contact the chassis manufacturer in many cases (Alas I no longer can) for a list of authorized service centers.

I have an RV dealer (NOT CW) who normally does my oil changes in Michigan, and a truck service center in SC. I'm looking for a qualified center here in S.E. Ga enarest one is an hour away and I really do not like them much (never dealt with them but have talked to them and not well impressed) there is another shop more local.. Him I like but not sure he can do the job.

I have ALL my maintenance AND repairs done at a CG.

I simply go to the CG owner and ask who they use for "RV Mobile Repair".
They come out to your site and will repair or do maintenance on whatever you need gas or diesel.

Fast, efficient, they have all the parts needed on board or will bring them. AND it is done ON THAT DAY. No dropping off and/or leaving your MH and having to go back for it.

I have found them to be FAR more experienced than any mechanic at a dealership or repair shop. AND the cost is WAY FAR less expensive.

My MH's over the past 8 years have NEVER seen the inside of a repair shop. Just the quiet confines of a nice CG where I sit back on my lawn chair and open a cold one while the work is being done. :C
  • In over 70,000 miles of travel, I have had service four times. (I have done many tasks myself.) First was a destroyed tire and wheel, second, a blown hydraulic pump. I depended on a roadside service type of company to guide me. Third was an alignment, while waiting for a new hydraulic pump.

I have hired one oil change. For your small diesel RV, Walmart charged us $35, plus oil over 5 quarts, plus our filter! I have done several oil changes myself while traveling.
