Will Maxxair II fit Fantastic Fan ??

I have a Fantastic Fan model # B2000B mfg date 11/04. I want to add a vent cover.

Amazon has the Fan-Tastic Vent UB1500WH White Ultra Breeze Vent Cover for $57.00 UltraBreeze

or the Maxxair (00-933072) White Vent Cover Maxxair II for $46.00.

My question is will the Maxxair fit on to the Fantastic fan housing since the Fantastic fan does not use the "standard" metal lip above the roof that is use in my bathroom "OEM" vent?

For years Fantastic Fan said "Do not cover" I believe the reason was not restricted air flow but because if you have an AUTOMATIC electrically opened and closed FF the lid can be damaged by hitting the cover.

I have an all manual one, I personally crank it open. Nuff said.

The Maxx air is designed to fit over the FF.
  • Just installed two UltraBreeze covers. Work great on my FF vents.

Easy install. Took about 10 minutes each.

I have two Fantastic fans in my unit. The factory installed both fans but only one vent cover. The factory installed the Maxxair (old style) and I had the dealer install the Maxxair II on the second fan. Both work Ok. With the old style the only opening is directly in front of the fan cover. The Maxxair II has more louvered area in front and to the sides of the fan cover. The major thing about the Maxxair/Maxxair II and the vent covers made specifically for the Fantastic fan is in the height. I had the vent cover made specifically for the Fantastic fan on a previous TT and that cover would allow the fan cover to open fully whereas the regular Maxxair and the Maxxair II will let the fan cover open to maybe 3/4 of the way. YMMV

Just installed a couple MaxxAir II's on our new trailer. Great choice IMO and simple to install. I like the quick release pin feature with hinge so you can easily open them for cleaning. Great product. I was looking at the big vent covers from Fantastic which I like even better but too much $$$ for my wallet.
  • I just installed one on a conventional vent and they do come with both fasteners. Machine screws (bolts and locknuts)and sheet metal screws - Stainless steel for both.

  • IIRC, they now come with both the machine screw/washer/nut *and* self tapping screws for plastic bases- I use the self tappers.

Yes. I didn't want to go to the expense of the various vent covers specifically designed for Fantastic Fans and installed a MaxxAirII on both of our Fantastic Fans. I don't know if it allows a little more room for the Fantastic's own cover to open, than a regular MaxxAir vent would, but it offers so much more louver area that I think it's much more appropriate.
Chris may tell you what kind of fasteners he uses. MaxxAir furnishes machine screws with nuts and washers. That's good on sheet metal flanges used on most manual vents. Fantastic uses a heavy plastic flange. I had to take them all apart to get the nuts and washers installed. If I were to do those again, I would use Stainless Steel "Sheet Metal" screws.

I believe all of the RV FAN items are designed to fit the standard 14-inch by 14-inch hole in the ceilings. The FANTASTIC FAN items I have seen are this dimension.

I have no first hand knowledge of the MAXXAIR products.

  • Yes- I install them all the time. The Maxxair II is a good choice for high powered fans.
