Wonky auto valve keeps shutting off our gas!

Question

This automatic valve is terrible -- even when we have plenty of gas, it decides to go red and shut us off, usually in the middle of the night when we want the heater. I learned long ago to always switch it manually to one bottle or the other, but even then it sometimes still likes to go red and shut us off.

Can it be replaced with a regular manual switch, or even just a T?

Looks like that regulator has seen better days anyway, why not just replace it with a new auto changeover regulator.  Also check the pigtails and replace them as well if the rubber shows any signs of being brittle.

I had one of those and it worked but never that great and had been leaking for some time.  Replaced with a Cavagna that is far better.Find it on amazon and get new pigtails while you are at it.
