We have looked for a toy hauler with a 16 foot garage to fit two Polaris sportsman 500 4 wheelers inside and camp with for the last four years. All we can find are heavy beasts that are not made well for all that weight. The few that are built well, are over $100,000 +. So we are looking at well made aluminum cargo trailers and custom ordering one to our design. Triton, Cargo Pro, Aluma, Legend. …. We loved the Triton but they do not make a 7.5 wide with an extended tongue the dealer said. We found a dealer who really helped us customize ours so we are working with Legend trailer dealer in Wisconsin. We are designing a 7.5 wide x 7 high x 22 foot v nose all aluminum cargo trailer, the V nose Thunder series. It will weigh about 4,600-6,000 lbs when built and loaded with toys and cargo. Holds 7,000 with dual tandem 3500 lb tortion axles and upgraded rims/tires to add more ground clearance. You can also upgrade to 7,000 lb tortion axles and frame upgrade to accommodate more weight. Going to insulate 1” closed cell polyiso foam board in walls and 2 inches of same in ceiling. We will build with furring strips and 2x2 framed cabinets and walls inside to accommodate a 36x36 shower, with 35 gallon grey tank, under the shower inside our under mount under frame. A 35 gal fresh water tank, (no black tank on ours) but a composting or cassette toilet, small usb sink, sleeping on either a Murphy style drop down or the happy jack style suspended beds on e track that fold down from ceiling. We added windows w screens that open, Rv door and screen 36 w x 74 h, a sxs escape door over the fender (44 wide. X 54 high) to accommodate a sxs for later on in life. There a larger OTF door options for sxs as well. Also adding 12 volt powered max fan ceiling vents in ceiling with covers, upgraded aluminum side vents. We will also add a 110 electrical package and 12 volt power package. European dome lights for interior lighting, luggage rack or ladder racks on roof to mount solar panels to later, we will have a 110 mini split installed for quiet, efficient heat and AC that can run on on solar or run on an inverter generator. An 18 foot awning, power tongue jack, extended tongue for safer maneuverability and allow room to build either a dual propane tank holder or expanded battery bank for solar over time. We requested all supports 16 on center , roof, walls and floors. 30x30 windows and 15 x 30 horizontal or verticals that open with screens, lots of options to choose from. The ideas on Facebook cargo trailer toy hauler conversion groups are endless. We mostly remote camp in national forests , bml land, state forests and adventure off road atv trails so we want enough choices for power to remote camp for days if we want. Outdoor portable shower innovations are available too if you are camping seasonally as well. Many campgrounds come with shower houses. We prefer our own shower. Happy camping. The MN Olsons.
