I had a problem with FASS just last month but they were put in 2004. So that's over 10 years. I could of sent them off and had them re-built. But being the RV park I was in, they frond upon doing your own work in their park. I went to local shop recommend to me and the guy wanted Airdog because he was more familiar with them. He did have had some problems with the return line and Airdog was able to walk him thru it over the phone. And I Highly recommend a fuel pressure gauge. Don't know about FASS because it had a low pressure light installed. With Airdog I taped into test port and now have a gauge.
When trying to diagnose my problem I went to different forums before taking to mechanic. I saw lots of statements of why one is better than the other. I do know when I picked up extra filters I was able to get a Airdog replacement filter at NAPA. With FASS I had to go to local Cummins place to get filters. Of course you might have better luck where you are. There is a lot online about installing them. I also had to get a bigger suction straw (draw tube kit)for the airdog. Which is another $100.00 after next day shipping.
YA buddy that VP44 loves lots of clean fuel or it hits you in the back pocket.
As to which is better...I think it is a ford vs ram type thing.
Well the 2006 is a CR using a CP3 (I think)so would need to do a little research.
Myself, when a felt the need to replace the Stock Lift Pump on my 2001 I went with the FASS DDRP-02, and could not be happier! 17 psi to the VP$$ (AKA VP44)and constant service.
