10 day trip starts tomorrow and Slide out wont work!!!

I have a 2013 salem cruise lite and my slide out stopped working... 600 mile trip to outer banks is tomorrow, any help is appreciated.

When I press the switch I can here the motor on right side engage and it begins to slide out about 3 inches or so... however the other motor on the left side does not engage or move. I hear no sound coming from that side. The controller blinks red 8 times and the code says "power short between controller and motor" Suggestions?

Read your owner's manual for instructions on how to open / close the slide manually, go on your trip, and deal with it when you get back.
  • I'm gonna post this just in case someone has this issue in the future.

So this Lippert "in wall" slide is controlled by 4 motors (2 left/ 2 right) that are mounted in the wall. Those motors are controlled by a controller module (computer) that is mounted under the loveseat/sink area.

Mine was flashing an error code "break in circuit between motor and controller" (meaning a short in the wiring).

I traced all of the wiring and all of it was undamaged so I bypassed the module to see if it would work. You can do this by pressing/releasing a button 6 times and press the 7th time and hold it until lights start flashing.

Next, I pressed the regular slide switch on the wall and the slide worked perfectly. The computer reset itself and is not flashing any codes. I moved the slide in and out several times and all is fine.

Outer Banks, NC... here we come!
  • Related side note: Mine had a similar fault, same code even. It turns out to be a short in the motor. That meant un-plugging the connector did not release the motor, it was still bound by electrical resistance. You can still push it in that case, but it's really hard. Too 3 big guys pushing as hard as we could to get my slide back in, and that was with only one bad motor and the other free-wheeling!
