- wanderingaimlesExplorerDo the folks at the gas station or hardware store where you have yours filled even look for that?
As long as the tank doesnt appear rusted out the guys that I have watched just hook them up and turn on the pump. - SoundGuyExplorer

Any propane fill station I've used here in Ontario has checked tank certification date carefully, as the law requires. Had the choice this past spring to give up my expired 5 lb tank or get it re-certified so I gave it up. Not once has tank expiry not been checked. - newman_fulltimeExplorer IIits 15 years i thought
- darsben1ExplorerSo you get 2 years extra.
- bartlettjExplorerThe gas stations I've gone to for fills never check. I finally just turned in one of my old 20 year old crusty 20 lb tanks to an exchange so I could have a shiny one. They might check if you have one so old it doesn't have an OPD valve, though.
- LwiddisExplorer III feel ambivalent since I don't hear of tank failures. Is my head in the sand? My TV gasoline tank isn't inspected by anyone. While not an off roader I do not shy from dirt roads etc.
- camperfamilyExplorerThey do check them. And around here its real hard to find someone to re-cert them.
- 352ExplorerUse a cheap Harbor Freight engraver. $1.99. Engrave BT1400a212019 or any other combination of numbers and I bet you they will fill it. Just make sure the last numbers are a future date.
