Good question. Not sure. The other part of this is possibly getting the Jack-E-Up, which lets you easily remove and reattach the tongue jack.

If the wheels are completely in the bed, remove the tailgate. Most take about 30 seconds.

Does the proposed extended shank have sufficient rating for the weight of your TT?

Not anymore if you have locks and cameras in them. You'd have to install your own disconnect and then you could!

Here's how you know for certain - hook up with the tailgate closed. Now open the tailgate - I'd venture to guess that turning will not be possible unless the jack is below the gate or you remove it.

I would think that ya could just aim the truck where ya wanta go and plan on no turns , what could go wrong . I did see a 4 wheeler in the bed with tailgate off and the owner had put 2x8s under the rear wheels that stuck out only about 6 inches . Worked for him !

Then you could remove that pesky steering wheel that just gets in the way. Would not need a back seat anymore.:B

I have the Jack-E-Up tongue jack removable base.
Since I flipped my TT axle, I had to flip my WDH shank, I.e., raising it.
Now, even with the Jack-E-Up, I have to pad the jack base or the tailgate will rest directly on the base when open. Still better than only being able to open the tailgate 20-30 degrees when connected to the TT.
Problem of my own making ;(
Point being, while the Jack-E-Up is a great product, It may not solve this problem depending on the WDH height.
If you blow up my signature pic, you can see how it will still interfere.

Thanks! I was hoping the 18" shank would stick out past the tailgate, but I don't think it will.

Remove the gate. You're asking for trouble with it down.

My tailgate doesn't clear my power jack, and even with a Jack-E-Up, the gate would crunch into my propane tanks on a turn...

Disconnecting my tailgate with a camera and power locks takes about a minute... 10 seconds to disconnect the cables, ~10 seconds for me to crawl under the bumper, 10 seconds to disconnect the wiring harness for the camera, 20 seconds to get back up (takes twice as long these days...), and then another 10 seconds to pop it out of the hinge pockets.
