1st Trip w '09 Tango 276 - what I wish it had (& hadn't)

We made our first trip in our new to us 276RBS Pacific Coachworks Tango this weekend. It is the latest in a fairly long list of RVS. Of course as a used unit it was equipped as is. Here are some changes I would make if purchasing new:

1. Electric tongue jack. I'm getting too d&$-n old for all this cranking.
2. Ditch the electric awning. Manual ones have never given me a problem and they're more versatile.
3. It's got a huge 4D battery. I would have gone with two 6v golf cart batteries.
4. It's got solar, but only a 100w panel. I would have gone with a bigger one since much of the cost is in the installation and charge controller and the don't change.

It is a great TT and some of those mods may happen in the near future - especially the electric jack!

My Outback has an electronic awning. I've always had manual. There's advantages to both. The biggest advantage to the manual was the ability to drop the arms completely down and actually slide them under the trailer which make the awning hang down along the side of the camper. Very easy to clean! Also, to clean under, could drop down the front of the awning. With the electric, it's pretty much fixed in place. So will have to figure out a new way to wash it down. BUT the ease of extract and retract are wonderful! Especially at NIGHT when the wind pick-up and your butt naked and don't want to go outside to roll up the awning. Just push the button and go back to bed! That's WONDERFUL!

Congrats on your new camper! Tongue jack is an easy swap out. Keep the battery until it dies! Then switch! Save some money!

Electric tongue jacks are nice, when they work. We had one for a while on our last TT and it quit on me. Fortunately it quit at home so I was able to swap it out for the original manual one quickly before our trip. Our new camper is coming with an electric jack as well, hopefully it lasts a little longer. We're also getting a power awning as well. Didn't really want that but it was part of a package with a lot of other stuff we did want so it is what it is. Again, I hope it doesn't give us too many problems.

Check Ebay for the electric tongue jack. Lots of folks here have bought from Ebay - both brand new and manufacturer refurb - and are happy, happy campers. DH was adamant that we didn't need an electric tongue jack until I had shoulder surgery and that moved to his job list.....quick change of opinion. We bought a refurb for our '07 ROO....looked and worked like the day it was built. Right at $100 and about 15 - 20 min to install....maybe 30 min with the beer break. For our new TT, ended up going brand spankin' new and even with inflation it was just about $130. Seems like the one for the ROO was an UltraFab 3500 and this one may be, also, but at least I know it was a 3500 whatever brand. You'll love it....best relatively inexpensive mod you can do. BTW, most but not all, have free shipping, so check for that.

Yup! The electric tongue jack is one of the first things I did. Also, Dexter wet bolts and the EZ Flex equalizer for the axles. Agree totally on the electric awning. Since 2009, when new, I have had to fix nothing. Only tires needed to be replaced.

Congrats and enjoy. I was going to say that the electric jack is a quick and low money fix. We like our electric awning though, sorry you don't like yours.
