2.7 Liter Ecoboost and 3.55 Rear ..5K Towing Capacity?

Hi all,

So I was looking at a 2018 F150 CC with a 2.7 Liter Ecoboost and 3.55 rear. It has a payload rating of 1700 pounds.

The dealer swears the truck only has a GCWR of 10200 and hence a 5000 pound towing capacity.

Looking thru the 2018 Ford F150 towing specs, I see the 2018 F150 CC, 2.7 liter Ecoboost with a 3.55 rear is rated at 7700 pounds towing capacity.

Am I missing something here? I can find no listing for a 2.7 liter ecoboost configuration with a towing capacity below 7500 pounds....

Thoughts?

No. Trucks do not have a label showing either GCWR or towing capacity. Just payload.

I have a 2017 CC 2.7 4x4 with the 145" wheelbase. It has the 6 speed with 3.55 gears and the towing package. I think the pulling power is incredibly stout. Your would be even better because of the 10 speed transmission and the extra 25 pound feet of torque in 2018. My payload rating is just under 1,600 pounds. It is an XLT 302a.

I have no experience with the 2.7 EB but I do own a 3.5 EB with heavy tow package. I love the truck and this year we put about 7000 miles on it while towing a 3000 pound TT. IT handled like a dream. The towing package adds so much to the truck's towing ability, I will never own another truck without the heavy tow package.

I would suspect based on ALL of the models listed in the guide. The dash in the space is a non optionable combo! IE the folks that say the 3.55 gear sets was/is not an option for that combo. Similar to GM, the 4.3 V6 only has a 3.23 option in rwd, but 4wd you can get a 3.42! The 5.3 has some similar available or not available options too! I'm not familiar with the Dodge ooptions, but will assume they have some similar availability options too!

Not a owner of a 2.7EB but I recently rented one to drive from Houston to Dallas and back and was amazed by the power and fuel economy that truck made. I have no doubts that truck would be a strong pulling truck.

I beleive this is correct as well, since the 4x2 2.7 powered F150 with the 3.15 or 3.31 axle ratio is rated at 7600 towing/12,300 GCWR. It stands to reason that if 3.55 gears were available in the 4x2, it would be rated to tow more than the 3.15/3.31 rather than not rated to tow at all.

One thing to be aware of and that is, if you lease the vehicle, the lease may exclude towing anything.

I think you are linking to the 2017 towing guide. Here is the link to the 2018 Guide and it shows 7700 pounds for a 4X2, CC, 2.7 Ecoboost with 3.55...unless I am reading it wrong..
