Good job. Now it would be nice to weigh your truck. BTW the 20" wheels eat up about 150lb of capacity. You've got 226lb over me. That would be 2wd vs mine @4wd. BTW my sticker says 1255lb. Rots me. My FIL's Dakota 4x4 has more capacity than mine.
I wish I'd known of this place before I purchased my things. The dealers really don't have your interest in mind. The dealer told me my truck could tow 10,000lb. Yeah right. - gclossExplorerYou can get specific towing capabilities from the Ram website. All you have to do is put in your vin.
LOOK UP MY VEHICLE
Click on the link, then on the right hand side of the page there is a link called LOOK UP MY VEHICLE. Click the link and enter your vin.
A 3.55 rear with 20" tires is not a good combo for towing. - HybridhunterExplorerThat pretty much confirms what I posted. U should be good. Weigh all axles to be sure.

- APTExplorerWith 550-ish pounds of people, payload may be your limit. You need to find this sticker and note what your truck has where this one says 2051:
The 2009+ Ram half tons are pretty low, but there are so many GVWRs for all the cab/bed/drivetrain combos the as equipped payload is most useful. 2WD Quad cab might be decent, 1500 pounds. The family, stuff in the truck bed, and trailer TW should be under the payload.
6000-ish pounds dry is a good limit for most half tons like yours if you have enough payload. 6k dry means 7000-7500 loaded for as long weekend with 800-1000 pounds of TW. - HybridhunterExplorer

Sorry the sport is 4x2 and my trailer empty weighs in at 5490 as per the weight scale on ft meade military base. I weigh 230 the wife is like 140 but don't tell her I said that. Three kids come in about 190 together. Bed will be empty and I don't like bguys math at all lol
Your trailer should be hitched with a weight distributing hitch, which many folks add to the tongue or payload weight, when in reality, it ends up actually netting you a lower amount of weight load on the truck, and far lower on the rear axle. (It transfers more than it's own weight back to the trailer axles). It looks like you should have no problems towing with your truck. Set up the WDH correctly, and pay attention to your loaded weights, and on what axle the weight ends up. If you find yourself heavy on the rear axle of your truck, re-locate your battery to the rear bumper, that alone can take 75Lbs off the tongue, net. There is some flexibility in the WDH settings too, so realistically, I don't see an issue here other than proper setup. - HybridhunterExplorer

Certain folks exaggerate numbers wildly to convince us all that "1/2 tons" can't tow at all. - popupcampingExplorer

Does your TRAILER weigh 5490 or your TRUCK?
Because if you already have a trailer why are we here?
He might have meant his truck meaning he has 1210 of available payload.600 lbs of people and gear he is going to be over payload with most TT. 4000lb trailer would be at max - aedubberExplorerBeing a quad cab 1500 i bet the CCC will be about 1085 lbs ... But well wait for your findings.
- bguyExplorerThe other sticker please. The one with the tire and loading info on it. It's on the door frame, not the door and it'll tell you the CCC of your truck.
Go look again. We'll wait.
