ynotturbo,
Are you only getting 200 miles from a tank of gas when towing?
I can get more miles from a tank, but when the truck gets to 1/4 tank I look to fill up. Do not like to take the chance of not finding diesel when it gets too low. I get about 8 miles to the gallon dragging 19,000 lbs behind me. - azdryheatExplorerJust be cautious of the 2012 and earlier Meg Cabs. I was looking at them and they don't have the towing numbers you would expect from a dually. The 2013's now have the proper towing numbers.
- Bionic_ManExploreri love my truck. The price you quote seems very competitive to me.

For fuel economy get a Civic, to tow get the Ram 3500 Dually then turn off the Lie-O-Meter and enjoy the journey.
I have to agree with you. I fill up with fuel prior to leaving the house and fill up when I get to a campground. If it's more than 200 miles to a campground,, I pull off and fill up. I need torque and torque requires lots of fuel. Especially when the cylinders are the size of coffee cans...lol - machuntExplorerGVW. just thinking stability and safety, also when wife retires a new 5ver might be in our future. so does 40,000 seem high for 2012 dually diesel 4.10 gears quad cab sl package

Is that 12k gvw or dry. I pull a 12k gvw 5er with a '04,5, 3.73 gears, 5.9L and get 12 mpg towing, 18+ solo of mixed country/city.
Looking at a 3500 dually 2012 pros and cons. will be used for towing my 5th wheel 12,000 lbs - Ramblin_RecksExplorerWe are well satisfied with ours. Bought it in Jan 13. Powerfull, comfortable, and powerfull. Oh already said that.
As for mpg, 13 city, 9 towing. - gclossExplorer

Rear end ratio? If its a 3.42 then no. If its a 3.73 o 4.10 you will love it.
Really???????
My combined is 28K with 3:42 gears. It performs great! 9.5 hand calc average West Coast Towing.
Pulls 6% grades at 55 or more.
So whatever the gear ratio with the size of RV he is talking about will be no problem at all!
That terrable! My 4.10 rear ended dually gets 11.5-12.5 hand calculated all day
What is your combined weight?
