Saw a 2013 Ford 350 Supercab Diesel 6.7 4x4 at the dealer today. 3.55 axle ratio. Torqshift 6 speed Auto with O/D. Dealers website says payload is 3900lbs. Towing capacity is 12,300. Does this sound right? This would be my first diesel engine truck. Being a new leftover thinking I could get a pretty good deal on it.
I have a few ?'s
How is the newer Ford 6.7 diesel engines?
What kind of mileages per gallon to you get without towing?
In general does the maintenance cost a lot more than the GMC 6.0 or ford 6.2 over the long run?
How is the reliability of the truck overall?
I understand today when you bring your truck into get serviced there is nothing cheap anymore!
Any information would help a lot . Thanks!

All those big-3 rat box cars from the early 80's were pieces of crap. Hondas and Toyotas were the only cars worth buying back then.

You weren't even born back then, and surely didn't drive a fresh one. I agree though, like I said " but I bet it's not around any longer, just a guess". It was a short lifespan much like lots of Ford motors :W It was a fun car when it was new, gave the 5.0 Tang's all they wanted top end. Yeah I was young and dumb way back when. How's that song go.... Dave_____ I'm not what I once was :B

Oh I was around... I had a new 84 Z28. And yes I drove a relatively new SVO and Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with basically the same engine!

You can also add the Chrysler La Barron Turbo 4 banger to the same line of POS cars. :W

Hey Ricatic, bird has a few questions about your 6.7. :B

Hope you don't have a rough running 6.7. It won't need just a tune-up. It will need the left head yanked. :E Ford TSB for rough running 6.7.

Ford must also be a nay sayer. :R

I "think" Jar is talking about THIS.

Or this.

Or maybe this?

Or he could even be talking about this?

With the sales numbers no wonder Ford Dezels have more problems :W Oh wait maybe the F150 EB is included. I actually had a 85 SVO Tang with the little 4 banger turbo. It hauled butt back in mid 80's but I bet it's not around any longer, just a guess :B

Those 4 banger SVO Mustangs were a POS! :W

My boss just bought one. My biggest thing is it doesn't feel very powerful! Yes it moves, but it doesn't feel much better than my Excursion with a V-10 and 4.30 gears! Yes i'm sure it gets better mileage than my V-10. And i'm sure when you put a trailer behind it, it may pull it better. However i was expexting much more!

Ford > GMC+Chevrolet+Ram+Tundra+Tonka+CAT+Deere... All of those get terrible MPG's and breakdown all the time apparently?? Seriously you can't go wrong with any of the big 3. 100K on my truck and love it more every time I drive it! Especially towing! Good luck.
