Saw a 2013 Ford 350 Supercab Diesel 6.7 4x4 at the dealer today. 3.55 axle ratio. Torqshift 6 speed Auto with O/D. Dealers website says payload is 3900lbs. Towing capacity is 12,300. Does this sound right? This would be my first diesel engine truck. Thanks!I believe the payload is about 4000, towing capacity 15900, and combined gross is 23500. The 12300 is I think for the gas. I have a 13 supercrew 4x4 diesel and get around 20 on the highway, 18 just running around, 11 to 12 towing a fifth wheel, 12500lbs and 60 to 65 mph. A service cost me about 150, this only needs to be done every 8 to 10000 miles, it does take 13 quarts of oil. The DEF holds 5 gallons and last about 7000 miles. I only have 11000 miles, but am very happy, power is fantastic.

The 6.7 -may- be too new to really know the reliability, certainly Ford has addressed it, the question is, how well did they.The only issue I know about, is the Bosch CP-4 fuel pump (also used in, VW and Audi, among others) -had- shown a high enough failure rate that there was been a forced investigation into it's reliability. I understand Bosch has addressed this issue, but how well may be a question.One thing is for certain, it's a beast of a towing truck

My opinion, at this point I think it's fairly safe to declare the 6.7L Scorpion reasonably reliable. Yes there have been the aforementioned Bosch pump failures which admittedly is something that'll be in the back of the mind of 6.7L owners, but otherwise I've heard very few horror stories and the engine has now been on the market for a few years.I'm not sure iawoody2's MPG figures are common though; 20hwy and 18mpg combined sounds really good-- I think if you live in a congested area with its share of stop/go driving you may see smaller numbers than those. As far as service costs, yes it'll likely cost a bit more than a gas pickup on regular maintenance but it isn't a big spread. Where costs really come into play on diesel vs gas is out-of-warranty repairs, which in your case won't be a concern. Summing up, I think the 6.7L has, for the most part, proven itself to be a good engine and if you like the truck and it fits your budget, go for it.

Oh I was around... I had a new 84 Z28. And yes I drove a relatively new SVO and Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with basically the same engine!

You can also add the Chrysler La Barron Turbo 4 banger to the same line of POS cars. :W

Hope you don't have a rough running 6.7. It won't need just a tune-up. It will need the left head yanked. :E Ford TSB for rough running 6.7.

You weren't even born back then, and surely didn't drive a fresh one. I agree though, like I said " but I bet it's not around any longer, just a guess". It was a short lifespan much like lots of Ford motors :W It was a fun car when it was new, gave the 5.0 Tang's all they wanted top end. Yeah I was young and dumb way back when. How's that song go.... With the sales numbers no wonder Ford Dezels have more problems :W Oh wait maybe the F150 EB is included. I actually had a 85 SVO Tang with the little 4 banger turbo. It hauled butt back in mid 80's but I bet it's not around any longer, just a guess :B

Those 4 banger SVO Mustangs were a POS! :W

Look at past post from most of the nay sayers and you will see this is normal for them on anything Ford related.

My boss just bought one. My biggest thing is it doesn't feel very powerful! Yes it moves, but it doesn't feel much better than my Excursion with a V-10 and 4.30 gears! Yes i'm sure it gets better mileage than my V-10. And i'm sure when you put a trailer behind it, it may pull it better. However i was expexting much more!
