2014 Ram 3500 - RECALLS

Well the day has come when I get to cash in the stack of recalls on my Ram. Started having some transmission issues so I figured I'd drag it to the shop while its still under the 100K powertrain warranty. So I'm getting new track bar, catalytic converter, water pump (and consequently fluid flush), plus several other sensors, wiring harnesses, etc. all together 9 recalls. Plus a new software flash because of it. Should be a new truck by the time I get it back :B

What happened to the big bad 2012 cummins truck? Must have reached a million miles! LOL :B

Got tired of the slow winter warmups. I DD very short hops all year when not towing. From Nov to March really sucked. I may only go 1-5 miles once or twice a day. Truck never reached temps and getting heat out of the heater was tough. I tried the block heater last winter, leaving it on for an hour or so in the morning on a timer along with 5-10 mins on the fast idle to warm things up. That worked fine for heat but ended up clogging the EGR cooler and valve.
Luckily I live in Oregon and FCA has to give me a free 67,000 mile EGR cooler and valve cleaning. A few months back the truck threw a code on a camping trip. It ran fine so I wasn't worried and just waited till I got home to take it to the dealer. They said it had three codes all related to emissions ****. Under the Oregon rule they cleaned the cooler and replaced the EGR valve. Ended up having to shell out $$ for a EGR cooler bypass valve though. They also replaced the PCM under the 8 year/80,000 major emissions warranty.
I could've deleted it and by passed all that stuff, but didn't want to spend the $$$ to do it. I would still have to deal with slow winter warm ups. Then I'd have to reinstall the stuff to sell or trade it. They also found a leaking front crank seal and front pinion leak.
I had been thinking about going back to a gasser anyway so this seemed like a good time. So far I'm loving the 6.4 as far as a DD. Much easier to live with the short hoping I do.
As far as towing my 9300 lb 5er, well the CTD blew the 6.4 away. I can live with it though. I DD way more than I tow. I put about the same amount of miles on towing as DD a year but the time in the truck DD is way more.
BTW I only had 59,000 or so miles on it. :)

  • I just had my 9th recall completed on my 2014, 3500 HD Turbo Dually, I think, lost count. The last recall repair was T79. I am glad they are repairing these problems but come. I was told, the only thing they did relate to this recall was flash the computer.

So far I have had 10 recalls on my 2014 3500 , The T79 yet to be done.

P15,P26,T05,R36,R23,R40,R46,T25,T51. Averaging a recall every 5 months since new :)
  • Nothing like free repairs. Too bad they happen so often. Just had the cruise control recall done on my 2018 6.4. Ram also replaced the supposedly faulty cab clearance light lenses as there's a TSB on them for possible cracking.
Life of a Ram owner. :)
