Well if he spoke about a repair rather than replacing the front cap, I would have to assume that they would repair it like they do body work on a fiber glass car such as a Corvette. They would likely grind out the area where the stress cracks are and fill them with fiber glass and resin, sand smooth and would have to paint the area. I don't know how this would wear compared to the original fiber glass gel coat, so that would certainly be a conversation that I would have with them. I would also not want to see any evidence of a repair as in miss match of color etc. Regarding the cure time for the adhesives/sealers if the cap was replaced I would think at least 24 hours as in most cure times for these kind of things.
