Am I the only one that misses NewsW?
Fanbois don't miss him, people that perhaps deal in facts and reality do. If you've ever been on the wrong side of a legitimate Ford warranty rejection on their 6.7, you probably should miss him. Ford is pretty slimy, in my books, with that...
What I would do if you suspect your Ford ate and sh*t out the guts of it's Bosch CP4.2 HPFP is file a complaint with NHTSA before you dump your heap off at the Ford dealership for repair work under warranty. Get the ball rolling, and make reference to EA11003... That's right Engineering Analysis 11003 for Bosch 4.x series HPFP'd vehicles here in the USA.
Things to look for. You'll have a Check Engine Light. Pull and print out the codes, you are looking for a 0082 Low Fuel Rail Pressure code. Next thing is pull samples of fuel. You have saved all your fuel receipts, haven't you? You should, so as to have evidence that you fueled your truck properly in good faith, with diesel.
Next, I'd get a torx bit and pull that big black pressure reading dome that sits in the middle of the "V" on your HPFP with a elecrical plug and sensor on it, open it up, and take some pictures of what's inside. Do you see metal shavings or filings, like what you'd find in a machine shop, down at the bottom? Is the screen clogged with metallic debris? Yep, that's your HPFP that just ate itself, and it contaminated your WHOLE FUEL SYSTEM, COMPLETELY, FROM TANK to filters to HPFP, to accumulator, to rails to injectors too.
Take pictures of it. You'll want it as evidence, possibly for your attorney. Screw everything back together
That should get the ball rolling in your direction.
This is how the VW Touareg, AudiQ7 and Porsche Cayenne TDI folks get 'er done, when their CP4.2 pump pukes it's guts out into the whole fuel system. File that NHTSA complaint first, then tow it off to the dealership in a couple of days. It's all about following proper procedure. Close the door and lock them in to warranty coverage BEFORE they get any funny ideas about blowing you off for warranty coverage.
EA11003 investigation
Comparitive documents from major auto diesel MFGS.
:B Thanks for the information but I really don't think Cummins12V98 needs any advice with your post :W OBTW News stated the Cummins would also be running the CP.4 by 2012. Wrong news again.
Smart guy, but not really accurate as much as he thinks he is.
