3470 IS NOT the real payload for your truck. That is the brochure payload for a no optioned F250. Your real payload will be around 2600lbs.

If he has a gas engine, as opposed to a diesel, it is probably in the low 3000 range. While I doubt a crew cab lariat has 3400 lbs of payload... I'm reasonably certain that he could have 3000 or 3100...

I have the same truck and it's real payload is just over 2500lbs. Truck is scaled at around 7700lbs with 2 occupants.

Look at your cargo/occupants capacity tire information label on the drivers door post. That will be your payload.

Not going to contribute to the discussion about going over it. My intent is to ensure you know your real payload.

And yes, while there's nothing wrong with the 250, a 350 would get you more real and paper payload for the same $.
Although, buying off the lot, there are likely many x more 250s than 350s available.

For a 3470 payload, that would mean the truck only weighs about 6500lbs.
Sounds light for a crew cab super duty 4x4, even if it's a gasser.
Although that's the paper payload based on class 2 Gvw. Truck will haul more, no problem.
What was your question?

Did you already purchase the F250? Sounds like a F350 would suit your needs better. You will only have about 270 lbs of payload after you load your camper. Thats not enough if you want a passenger and certainly not enough if you want to tow a boat.
