Looking into the purchase of the 910DB from Adventurer. This model suits our needs down to a T, has all the features we are looking for. But will our truck handle it? We have a 2018 RAM 2500 crew cab long bed with the Cummins engine and 6 speed manual transmission. Never owned a slide in truck camper before, looking for advice. The dry weight as advertised on the website is 3373 LBS, and most websites list an estimated wet weight of 4400 LBS. Google says the 2018 RAM 2500 payload is 1,466 to 3,497 lbs.We like the 910DB for it's electric bunk option over the dinette, 4 season rating, king size bed, ample storage, and dry bath. I have not found any other truck campers with all those options and a single slide.Thanks!

IMO - NO! Dry weight of 3373 and that is without any options such as battery, AC, etc. Add water and necessities and you will be looking at a camper weighing over 4500# when ready for a trip. I wouldn't even try to carry that on my 3500 SRW. You will need to stay with a very light camper, preferably non-basement. First your diesel eats up a lot of payload. Second is you have coil springs which is a double strike because it has coil springs AND they are mounted inside the frame rails. Neither of which work well for carrying a high COG item like a truck camper. What would be a better thing to do is upgrade to a DRW 35000 and then get the 910DB if that is the camper you think suits you.

Won't work. I own a `18 Ram 2500 CTD and there's no way that would be either safe nor advisable. You are in DRW truck capabilities for sure if you nearing 4500 lbs. It is what it is.

Thanks for the responses. This is very unfortunate as I custom ordered our truck from the factory, it is one of the last real trucks per-se (vinyl floor, manual trans, manual 4x4, etc). Could have easily got a 3500 at that time. It's hard to swallow that it pulls our heavy older 2002 3 horse gooseneck with 3 horses in it beautifully but can't handle a slide-in. But it's OK, I am a mechanic. Maybe the best thing to do is find an older 3500 dually, build it up as an overland style rig, and be able to leave the camper on it all the time. That way when we go into the backwoods I won't cry if the truck takes a scratch.

Hopefully the airbags will handle the suspension issues. After you load up, you need to determine the weight on the rear tires. If you are at or beyond the load ratings, seriously consider an upgrade to 19.5 wheels and tires. At full load, even if your tires handle it without a major failure, your tire wear will be poor. Also the tires will tend to balloon and expose the sidewalls to damage if you drive off pavement.

Well I am excited to report I pulled the trigger on a used 2013 Wolf Creek 850 N. Can't wait to try it out this spring at the lake. Also having a set of TorkLift frame mounts and Firestone 5000 lb air bags installed. I will report back with how it works out.

Thanks. Custom ordered it, "New holland blue". Then found a set of Laramie wheels and powder coated them. Then changed all the badges to the "blackout" edition truck.

I have looked at the Laredo SC and 8.5 adventurer models. They are nice, but not quite what I am looking for. And the dry weight is more or less the same as the Wolf Creek's.

Another thought, "most" campers that are short/long bed capable will be C of G 1' or more forward of the rear axle. This will help "some" with some weight transferred to the front axle. Don't expect miracles but every bit helps.
Personally I'd go for it. My idea would be first see how bad it is with just Timbrens or Airbags on the back. You'll need something extra to support some of the weight.
Then prepare to buy the heaviest sway bars you can get for the rear first, then the front.
I bet with hard bump stops like timbrens, shimmed to be engaged quickly with the camper on and aftermarket front and rear sway bars, it'll ride just fine.
Again, it's my opinion, haven't tried it.

I still don’t understand why you wouldn’t look at a Northstar TC. It’s better suited to your truck, because of the height, width and weigh of them.
I am not against Northwood campers, I own a AF990.

Thanks all for the info. I am between a rock and a hard place. I have a few options it seems, getting rid of the 18 2500 just aint one of them. I custom ordered it and it's the last of it's kind, I'll be buried with it. Anyways, as I see it....

1 - I can gamble on maxing out my GVWR with a wolf creek camper

2 - get another truck as a dedicated camper rig and then be able to get the Adventurer as originally planned

3 - just keep on trucking with my 2014 Jayco 198RD bumper pull

Weighing the pro-cons of each.
