Cummins is still playing it very conservatively though. There is still plenty of power to be had with the current HE351VE turbo while still keeping safe EGT's when towing and emissions down.
But they didn't add HP... Why not?
My answer: Because the I6 design isn't as good at spinning fast (which makes HP) as a V8 design.
Now, in my mind, the increase in tq will result in a corresponding increase in hp somewhere in the RPM band (area under the curve so to speak), it just may not be a higher "peak" hp.
