2023 Ford RV and Trailer Towing Guide

2023 Ford Towing Guide

Looks like for 2023 a SRW 4x4 crew cab shortbox with the high output 6.7 is rated to tow a 27,000 lb gooseneck or 25,900 lb fiver. I’d like to tow a 25,000 lb triaxle fiver with a 3000 lb pin weight with my truck …. just for kicks.

I've been towing up to 30,000 lbs using the same tandem dually equipment trailer with various Ford F350 SRW diesels since 2011. The 2011 F350 SRW was rated to tow a 15,700 lb gooseneck yet I was very comfortable towing up to about 21000 lbs with that truck. Every truck in between and including my 2022 has handled that equipment trailer very well up to about 21,000 lbs. Even though Ford has increased their tow rating from 15,700 in 2011 to 21,900 lbs in 2022 and now up to 27000 lbs for 2023. I can't say I feel a whole lot more confident towing 21000 lbs with my 2022 as compared to how it was back in 2011. (The 2022 definitely has a ton of power but the way that 2011 with the 6 speed transmission and only 800 lbft of torque got the trailer rolling from a stop, even in soft ground, was very impressive.)

With GM you just have to look in the door jamb to see the exact ratings for that truck.

That's helpful if you already own the truck, and all the manufacturers should do that. But it's of little use if you're comparing online.

I've always liked how Ford publishes a document every year that tells you everything you need to know about towing with their vehicles or towing them, whether it's trailer, four-down, dolly, whatever. The other OEMs offer some kind of guide but nothing as comprehensive in one document.
