- TurnThePageExplorerIf you're using your furnace, the dehumidifier only has to keep up with your breathing. How many people are sleeping in there?
- yankeesloverExplorerthanks, yeah, on average there will probably be around 6 people in the camper... we camp up in the northern adirondacks in NYS.. every weekend... as you can imagine from now till June we will probalby be using the heat at night on the weekends when we camp.. Last spring we had to crack open a window and turn the vent fan on and do that all night... we ended up losing a ton of heat out the vent and went thru a ton of propane, not to mention the cold air thru the window... so this year i would like to plug in a dehumidifier so that we can shut the window and the vent.. hopefully it will keep the camper warmer and save on propane. Im just hoping that the 30pint dehumidifer will keep up with the breathing and allow us to shut off the windows and vents..I am assuming a 30 pinter should work fine all by itself...
- TrackrigExplorer IISet it on the kitchen counter and let the drain hose run into the kitchen sink. Even so, as Dave said, I don't see any way you could get 30 pints in one night out of a TT.
Have you actually had a humidity problem or are just trying to be prepared? We have a 40' MH and don't have a humidity problem - there are just the two of us and not a bunch of kids. We just spent several nights in northern NM and AZ at less than 40D with no noticeable humidity. Besides showers, we did the wash and let it dry on a rack in the front room. Remember the humidifier is just one more thing to haul around and get in the way.
Question: Why would running the furnace cause humidity inside the TT? Any humidity caused by the burning of propane during the furnace operation would be exhausted outside the TT with the spent furnace gases.
Bill - yankeesloverExplorerall I know is that last spring, before i knew any better, we had the furnance on at night when it was around 35 degrees outside and no windows or vents open and when we woke up all the corners in the camper were wet.. I thaught we had a leak(camper is one years old).. the following night we opened the window and the vent and it was dry ever since..... but like i said, gets cold as heck with the window and vent running...

Try just cracking the window and leave the vent off. Maybe just cracking two windows a little bit on opposite sides or end of the TT. You can crack the roof vent slightly, but leave the fan off. I'd experiment with different venting combinations before going to the humidifier. You can always buy the humidifier if the venting doesn't work - that's easier than trying to take back a used humidifier that's used.
Bill - colliehaulerExplorer IIIA 30 pint dehumidifier should be fine. I will buy one myself when I go back to Florida in winter. A lot of people don't understand just how damp it can get when they're from a dry area. Dry warm air adds to the comfort level.
When it was raining it was especially bad in Florida. - BumpyroadExplorer

the title was "mini" and it surely will be. not worth the effort IMHO. and to reactivate it I assume you have to put it in the oven and then that moisture will be put back into the air.
bumpy - GaryWTExplorerIt is different depending where you are. When we canmp during cold weather, we either set the heat at about 60 at night or we run the heat just before bed and then shut it off. I will then run it for a cycle or two in the morning but we are usually heading outside. Just glad we do not have to carry a dehumidifier around.
