- DevocamperExplorerI had ordered a ram 3500 drw gas 6.4 truck last fall and did not get the factory air system because I had found that there are no after market suspension products for that system such as sway bars, that said, I later found that there are no sway bars available for the 6.4 gas rams due to the exhaust system location( with out major modifications) so if I knew then that I could not add a sway bar on the regular suspension due the exhaust system I may have gone with factory air . I have read people are happy with factory air for TC use, have also read it shuts down if overloaded but someone that has it may have first hand knowledge of the operation.
Mike - work2muchExplorerI have factory air bags. If I were to do it over I would go with the std leafs. As mentioned above, no aftermarket upgrades available. Would like to add sway bar, but helwig doesn’t make one for these trucks. May end up replacing the rear suspension or possibly the truck.
- Gary3ExplorerAre you able to add rancho shocks or is something in the way of doing that.

No problem adding Rancho shocks. - camp-n-familyExplorerI’ve read about issues with them in cold climates. Google search it or check the Ram forums.
- Gary3ExplorerThe truck is for hauling the camper to AZ in Nov thur March so the cold shouldn't be an issue the rest of the time it just mostly sits there and gets a 20 mile run on the freeway once a week to keep things loose. We also take a couple trips in the summer.
- bolljlExplorer IIII have factory air bags. The big reason for me was back of truck height with air bag versus leaf spring is two inch lower. So far no issues no regrets. Truck and RV intentionally stay away from cold weather.

oops as soon as I posted realized referencing to truck camper.
No have 5th wheel.
But we purchased used truck camper to take to alaska but with different truck. Awesome trip. Would have kept the Truck Camper for other trip but had no place to store it.
I was wonder how the OEM air bags would work with Truck Camper. - Grit_dogNavigatorI cannot speak from personal experience with the new Rams air assist on the 3500s but I surmise that they're not ideal for high center of gravity loads because like regular add on air bags, the more the truck is on air and the less on steel, the body roll is more pronounced.
5ver or other general heavy hauling duties, while still wanting good daily driver manners I think is where the 3500s with air shine. TCs, but be interesting to hear first hand from someone with a big TC with air.
