5th wheel in bed wiring harness

Is this all I need to install in my 2018 Ram for the in bed plug in, or do I need some other resistor, or fuse as mentioned on earlier models. The dealer installed a B&W turnover ball for me, but no plug in.

  • The OEM one I bought in Sept 2015 came in a Curt box. Chris
  • Yep, it’s a pretty quick install. Make sure all the pins line up when you insert the connector behind the plate. I had one bend slightly and had goofy behavior with left turn signals on my trailer lights. It took me a bit to track that one down.

  • that is the correct harness.... you just un-plug the existing frame harness from the bed/light harness, and plug the new harness in to what just got unplugged....

I didnt have to remove the spare tire to do it...

and I cut a hole in the inner sidewall of the bed on the drivers side. and ran the wiring down thru the hole to the connection point, which is underneath, just behind the license plate...

it takes about 30mins to install, and most of this time is used trying to find the secret tab to push the get the existing harness plugs apart...
  • The etrailer harness looks better made made to me, than the oem, but will check on the space needed for the molded plug.

That is the harness I used on my 350. it was plug n play and pretty easy to install. Just double and triple check where you'll be drilling the hole and what's behind it. I had to drop my spare tire.
  • Thanks for the part number, I'll check it out also, and it is a B&W just like in my last truck.

That should work. I installed mine but I used the OEM plug: Part# 82212195AB_FS.

Did the dealer install the OEM Gooseneck Prep Kit or was it the actual B&W Turnover Ball Adapter for RAM trucks?

These are 2 very different products. The B&W uses a square shank ball and lever in the wheel well to latch and release. The RAM OEM ball is round and uses a round pop-in ball and safety chain hooks.
