6v golf cart batteries are legitimate deep cycle batteries.

Most 12v dual purpose batteries are really just starting batteries relabeled and won't hold near as many amp-hr.
Important point. Also if you do find a true deep cycle 12v battery you will pay a lot more for it than you would for 6v GC batteries.

"When you plan on replacing them two 6V golf cart batteries will usually store more energy and cost less."

I see this claim all the time. My group 27 12 volt deep cycle batteries are rated at 109 amp hours each which totals 218 amp hours or about the same as 220 amp hours often stated for two sixes. 2 amp hours doesn't seem like much. Price was about the same also.

Be careful...do it right. Have someone knowledgeable review your wire/cable plan.

I think you will need an extra battery cable. Might want to order one before removing the other batteries. Assuming they're installed and working.

One thing nice about wiring 12 volt batteries in parallel is that additional batteries can be added in any combination of odd or even. Three makes twelve volts, four makes twelve volts and so forth. Sixes must be added in pairs.

Yes. It will work fine assuming they are the same size and type of battery.
Wire just as Barney's fine diagram shows.

It sounds silly to some but , if you hooked up 100 " batteries " in parallel they become one " battery ". Kinda like canons , one is a canon , 100 is a battery , two is a battery and so on from there .

Yes. Your trailer uses 12v not 6. In order to use 6v batteries, one must connect them together in series to make one large 12v battery.

Connect your two 12v batteries together in parallel to keep them at 12v and you will be good to go. Keep in mind that both batteries should be of equal age/condition or one will discharge the other.
