A little help on tires please

My Trailer came with 205/75r14 C tires and I am thinking about upgrading to a set of 215/75r15 LT tires. I need to be careful because the size of my 205/75r14 (diameter)is 26.1". I do have some extra room but I would rather not increase the size by too much. The closest size that I could find in an LT tire was a Goodyear Wrangler at 215/75r14. The wranglers have a max load of 2096lbs (my trailer GVWR is 7500lbs). I am just learning about switching to LT tires so I don't know all the common sizes and such. If anyone could comment on these tire or recommend another type or size I would appreciate your feedback.

Thanks for all the replies. I think if my rims willet me do 65psi I might just go the Kumho route. If I need to get new rims I think I will upgrade to 15" and still go the LT route (let's just hope that they don't discontinue 15"LT tires all together).

Our last trailer had 14" wheels, and the choice of tires with load range D is very limited. We wanted the Kumho's, but they were out of stock, so we ended up with Kendra Karriers which were the only other 14" Load Range D tires we could find - distributed by Martin Wheel and sold by Northern Tool. Although Chinese, they seemed like good heavy tires - much beefier than the Maaxis Load Range C tires we replaced, and we had them for over 20,000 miles before we traded the trailer in .....

The OP has 205/75-14" C tires and is wanting to upgrade to Goodyear Wrangler LT215/75-15 D load range at 2095 lbs. Great upgrade if you have the room in the wheel well. Gets you away from a ST tire and their issues.

At one time when 1/2 ton trucks/vans used 15" tires we had several sizes and load ranges of made in the USA 15" LT tires to choose from. Goodyear has the D load range Wranglers. Several USA mfg have a LT235/75-15 C at 1980 lbs but the tire is 28.9" tall. Thats about it for a made in the USA 15" LT tire.

Just speaking for Goodyear Wranglers--we have used them on our current 5'vr and previous 1 as well--no problems. The current tires have about 25,000 miles on them and about 5 years old--will be switching them out this year. One trip was from So. Calif. to the Northern Rockies Lodge, Muncho Lake, B.C. Lars

I went from 205/75=15 to the 215 Wranglers. You should get 6" wide wheels. Your tire diameter will go up 1.6" but that is only .8" less clearance all around.

Feels good to sidestep this whole nonsense about the ST tires!

That's a 1.6" difference in diameter.Compare here:
Tire size calculator
Plus you have to buy new rims. If your current rims will handle 65PSI check out a 195R14 Kumho 857 radial load range "D" or "E".
Otherwise I would go with the Maxxis as suggested above.

I had the same sized stock tires. I went with Maxxis M8008 215/75R14 and am pleased so far.

Check your axle ratings and match tires equal to or greater than your axle ratings.
