They know they can get closer to the laughable MSRP, therefore have little to know incentive to drop prices.

In 2018 it was not uncommon to get 30% or maybe a tad more off. Today, not so much.

Almost everything in the country is up at least 30%, mostly from materials and transportation costs. Where have you been? And it will be getting much worse, first of the year.

I know where I won't be and that's at an RV dealer buying overpriced garbage.

Almost everything is not up 30% BTW. Ordered an F350 and PITA of waiting aside, getting it a good amount below sticker. Just bought Ribeye steaks at the mom and pop market for $6.99 lb if bought 10 lbs or more. Wallyworld wants $17.00 lb for shoe leather called ribeyes that are processed by Tyson. It pays to shop around.

We paid MSRP for our new Toyota Rav a few months ago. There is no haggling anymore.

Maybe, maybe not. The Ford dealer where we're ordering an F350 was a pleasant surprise when we were discussing price and they offered up a substantial discount from MSRP on their own. I asked the GM what he thought about some local dealers around the area tacking on what they call market surcharges or GFY pricing. He stated that's not the way they do business, they're still turning profit on the sale. Folks are fools who go in and unrealistically haggle expecting a dealer to sell at a loss.

Those types of dealers are almost impossible to find. I knew of another who was bought out by a mega dealer, which resulted in the instant elimination fair pricing as well as the elimination of a good chunk of previous customers.


What I am seeing with RVs is price gouging and it's not so much the dealers as it's starting at the manufacturer level. Those guys are not your friend nor will they ever be. It's a one of a kind special industry and always has been Now its on steroids. Hopefully energy costs, runaway inflation, etc soon slams the brakes on the party. It can't happen to a nicer load of crooks. When that happens the values are going to drop 3 times as fast as they increased, and all these folks buying them like hotcakes while financing them for 120, 180, 240 months are going to be left holding the bag.

We just took delivery of 3 2022 Super Duties ( daughter, bro in law, best bud ) , I picked up a 2021 for our Cleveland office, and I also ordered a 2022 for our York office ( so that's 5 total ) and averaged $7k - $8k or so below MSRP with no factory incentives...

Just for S&G's we looked at a new trailer. And laughed. There's nothing wrong with our 2017, and I'm so glad I bought my F250 in 2019.

How about an increase of %42 for what amounts to the same exact thing? That is unless you take into consideration that it has to be ordered, the build date will not be "confirmed", but the "estimate" is 12 to 16 weeks. Then add in their are claims that anything being built in Indiana right now, and for the foreseeable future, is exceptionally shitty. It's supposedly way worse in the build quality dept than prior to the pandemic, which seems hard to do. And that's coming from dealers.

Have you priced lumber, steel and other materials lately?

That price increase is pretty much inline with the current price of materials..

Bought some new lumber to re-deck a 18ft flatbed trailer..

$300 for 10 2x8 by 16ft, 1 2x6 by 16ft, 2 2x8 by 10ft, 8 2x4 x 8ft.

$70 for 150 5/16 metal decking screws..

Materials prices have come down some but I did have to by some 2x12s at 8ft in July 2021 and paid $45 each for another project and at that time 1/2 plywood (not chip board) was $55 a sheet (thankfully I didn't need plywood).

Just had a new roof put on my sticks and bricks, 1200 sq ft house, $14K in roofing, $2K in replacement sheeting boards for $16K total..

28 yrs ago, same roof was $4K in materials..

LOL, and I was cleaning out my old papers and came across the purchase contract for my 2000 Nash. I paid $13,000 and I had notes for an Airstream Safari (24') for $30k (our 2nd choice). And a few years earlier we purchased our So Cali home for $205k, which we sold in 1999 far north of $650k.

NADA guide shows the 2022 19B is just under $38k and the 2021 Flying Cloud (23') just under $79k, and comps on our old home are now in the low $900k.

I have received unsolicited offers of $12k for my 20 year old TT.

Yeah, I know technology and styles have changed, but entry level for consumers buying a new TT is really out of reach for many "common folks". Wonder what the prices will be in 2024?
